The intent of ISO 14001 is to provide Weir Marine Engineering with the elements of an effective Environmental Management Systems (EMS) that can be integrated with or into other management systems requirements, and to assist organizations achieve their environmental and economic goals and objectives. The overall aim is to support environmental protection and prevention of pollution in balance with socioeconomic needs. The success of an EMS depends on commitment from all levels and functions within an organization, especially from senior or top management.
ISO 17025 - Competence of Testing and Calibration LaboratoriesThe ISO 17025 standard specifies the general requirements for the competence to carry out tests and/or calibrations, including sampling. It covers testing and calibration performed using standard methods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods. The intent of ISO 17025 is to provide Weir Marine Engineering with a management system for quality, administrative and technical operations. Laboratory customers, regulatory authorities and accreditation bodies may also use it in confirming or recognizing the competence of laboratories. US Coast Guard RecognitionWeir Marine Engineering is a recognized independent laboratory accepted by the United States Coast Guard to perform testing for certification of Oily Water Separators, Bilge Alarms and Bilge Monitors in accordance with Title 46 CFR Subpart 162.050 – Pollution Prevention Equipment, which is based on IMO Resolution MEPC.107 (49) – Revised Guidelines and Specifications for Pollution Prevention Equipment for Machinery Space Bilges of Ships.
